DAVborne is a symbol for websites updating their contents using WebDAV - aka DAV.

Whenever you rollout WebDAV on a webserver, you may be tempted to share your experience and to evince your adoption of the WebDAV technology.

To that purpose feel free to download the DAVborne medal kit, including the DAVborne code snippet to integrate on your own website and the DAVborne medal: DAVborne - Where did that name come from ?

It occurred to me that many standards are providing icons, for the webmasters to show their adoption of such technologies.

The DAV technology itself already has a logo thanks to Tim Byars, but I thought there was also a need for a symbol that would reflect "what does DAV actually bring to the Web".

The result is this icon I would like to contribute to the WebDAV community:
  • It takes its roots from the "Airborne", thus litterally means "on flight using DAV".

  • As a medal it is bearing an enamelled folder - the icon most commonly used within file explorers, file managers and other finders.

  • The wings are also made of streamlined folders, wearing three feathers - as the three letters of 'DAV'.
